Standing Up For Life’s Challenges

Financial challenges in the family got me switching to a different job. I was just not earning enough dough that time to meet the needs we had at home. My folks were about to retire while my sisters were almost in college. Something had to change to adapt to the changes. I accepted the challenge.

For four years I was bringing in to the family just enough to put food into the table. Anything more than food had to be earned thru various means so to acquire them. At times, I and my sister had to look for things to sell just to be able to get that school shoes her teacher required from her. But the thing is, not all the stuff we had at home was saleable. From pre-loved personal stuff to even our livestock; we had to let go to buy necessities. Mind you, it was really hard to see those cute little puppies and bunnies leave the house and our lives.

I worked in a major company then when I finally opted to search for that proverbial ‘greener pasture’. That company had me as their assistant Human Resources Manager for a couple of years before my sudden change of career. Sad as it was for me, that leap was vital for me.

Today, I work in one of the respected call centre in the country and I belong to a highly-compensated line of business handling the American Express Credit Card account. American Express is one recognized company and they pay their employees well. Now, when pay-day comes, I would no longer get troubled in worrying how to get those shoes for my sister.

It is a fact that we had to go through different challenges in life to better enjoy it. Successful people I know or heard about made crucial decisions before getting to where they are now. They had to go through uncomfortable changes and had to learn to stand by their choices. They gave up some to earn more.

Staying inside one’s comfort zone for too long makes that person settle for less in life. Challenges are opportunities offering something better. They just require some manning up and taking that momentous leap.
